Vehicles in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Officers stated they were notified by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
